Open Call: Karavan and BNCN International Residency

Karavan is a performing arts collective of circus artists and musicians who “build our dream of an independent stage in an abandoned industrial hall in the middle of Malmö”.

In collaboration with Baltic Nordic Circus Network and with support from Region Skåne are happy to announce a call out for a new residency opportunity. The call is open to all circus artists/circus companies with at least one person based in any of the Baltic or Nordic countries.

We can offer you to be artists in residence during the month of October 2019. You will get access to a rehearsal space, with kitchen and shower facilities during the residency period. As part of the residency we ask that you deliver/host a masterclass or workshop for the local professional circus community.

Part of the residency will be to meet the local community of artists and audiences with two work-in-progress performances. These can be arranged to suit your individual needs, though the idea is to introduce you and your work to the local community at the beginning of the residency and share your developments at the end of the month.

We will be able to offer travel as well as accommodation in central Malmö and a subsistence of €630 per person taking part.

You will be able to book meetings with our technician and have access to them for the performances if you wish.

You will also have access to a small workshop to test out scenographic elements if needed.

We particularly welcome artists working with a norm-critical approach.

We are trying to offer this opportunity as early as possible in order for companies to successfully find match-funding.
