At Cirko Festival every day ends with Humaneesi – a free klub at Cirko's own Maneesi hall. Humaneesi is a visually strong environment which atmosphere is created by five unique club nights varying from DJ sets to tight wire dancing and from aerial acrobatics to techno.
Musicorps is part of the thematic spring event series of the Finnish Soloist Association. The musical happening explores themes related to corporeality and music, e.g., articulation of bodily movement and the human voice, rhythmicality and relationship with the space and spectator-listeners, corporeality of audio frequencies and emotional horizons of movement and sound.
The event opens up a new perspective on the ancient performance traditions of art music and dance that are based on virtuosic skill and control. In Musicorps, these traditions are contrasted with movement improvisation, modern technology and the music itself.

Violinist Sirkka-Liisa Kaakinen-Pilch and dancer Jan Fecko will perform Johann Sebastian Bach’s Partita in E Major, which is perhaps the most danceable of Bach’s works for solo violin.
*K. Stockhausen: Der kleine Harlekin (15 min)

Karlheinz Stockhausen’s piece The Little Harlequin for a dancing solo clarinettist is a classic in the genre that combines movement with music performance. Stockhausen has marked the choreography meticulously in the sheet music, mainly with rhythmic notation and precise verbal instructions. Rhythmically the choreography is in seamless dialogue with the clarinet. This piece that includes, for example, tap dance and mime, integrates music, movement and sounds created by motion into a whirlwind of the avant-garde, entertainment and virtuosity.
Clarinettist Lauri Sallinen has prepared the performance with choreographer Mikko Hyvönen and dance artist Marjo Selin. The costume was designed and made by costume designer Tarja Suopajärvi.

Britten for Cello and Body is a piece based on Benjamin Britten’s Solo Cello Suite No 1 and improvisation. It is created with cello, dance and the Sounding Motion technology. Sounding Motion is an interactive, digital tool for musical expression, where the sensors attached to a dancer’s body detect her movements and send them to be processed into sound. The method reverses the traditional order of sound and movement in performance. Besides composing movement, the dancer generates sound, in other words, she becomes a composer in motion. Somatic listening raises the possibility for emotional resonance, which challenges the bodily norms and conventions of classical music.
