Survey for disabled artists and artists who are Sign Language users on applying for grants

Dear artist!

In the frame of our project Making space for artistry – equity for disabled artists and artists who are Sign Language users we will organize a training session for the members of Association for Finnish Foundations in September. The members are foundations operating in Finland that fund art creation. In the training, we can present them with facts about what kind of obstacles there are in applying for and receiving grants. If you want to contribute, we would be grateful if you would answer the survey via the link below. Due to our resources the survey is unfortunately only available in Finnish.

If filling out the form is difficult for you, we can send you the questions by e-mail and you can answer them in the format you want, for example by e-mail or video. If you want to receive the questions in your email, please contact Johanna Mattila, , p. 044 0469548. Please note that with screen reader programs, in multiple choice and check-the-box questions, the check box can be selected with the space bar.

You don’t have to answer all the questions.

You can answer the survey even if you have never received or even applied for grants. We also want to get information about why some of the artists do not apply for grants. You can answer if making art is goal-oriented and important to you, even if you don’t feel like you’re an art professional. You can answer if you identify yourself as, for example, disabled, crip, chronically ill, deaf or Sign Language user, or if you have other access needs.

Our aim is to map out the obstacles related to grants as widely as possible. If you know somebody who this survey is aimed at (disabled artist or artist who is a Sign Language user) who we have not yet reached with this request, we hope you will forward this message to them.

Please answer the survey by Monday September 5th 2022.

Data protection and confidentiality

Answering the survey is voluntary. All responses are treated anonymously and confidentially. Answers will be anonymized if necessary.

When we have compiled the information obtained from the responses into a summary, all individual forms and responses will be destroyed. The answers will be destroyed no later than October 2022. Culture for All and the Cultural Association Finland’s EUCREA will keep a summary of the answers even after this.

The information you send will be used in the training session aimed at members of Association for Finnish Foundations, in other trainings organized by Culture for All and the Cultural Association Finland’s EUCREA, and possibly also for research purposes in the future.

We use Google Forms because it is currently the most accessible form we know of. More information about data protection: Culture for All’s Privacy Statement. If you don’t want to use the Google Forms form, you can also answer the survey in other ways. Please contact Johanna Mattila if you want to answer in another way.

Thank you very much for your time!

Best regards,
Johanna Nonna Mattila, project coordinator of the Making space for artistry -project
