Shame-cabaret is the third joint contemporary circus performance by Sakari Männistö and Miika Nuutinen. This production takes a stand on the society's different forms of personal shame.
When I was a child my dad said to me: "Look son. You don't need to be ashamed of anyone else but yourself in this life", tells the scriptwriter Miika Nuutinen.
Three men and their stories carry the performance from the start to the end. The fear of failure and the sense of inferiority are hanging in the air, intertwining with the shame inherited, carrying along one's own and parents' mistakes. Poetry, juggling and knife throwing add flavour to the stories.
The Shame Cabaret was premiered in Joensuu in 2009 and visited Stoa in Helsinki the same year. A giant penis promoted the performance and received attention in media all around Europe.
