IIRIS is a contemporary circus production that joins 17 artists on stage. They look but fail to see, they cling to each other but fear to touch. Bound for death they wander the cactus land. They long for the unlived life trying for an escape in the face of the inevitable. Gazing at fading stars they hope for redemption as it lies right before them.
IIRIS is based on and interprets “The Hollow Men”, a poem by T. S. Eliot. Following the structure of the poem the production is set in five parts. Each part centres on a certain circus instrument including aerial ropes, tight wires, aerial hoops, handstand and the german wheel.
IIRIS is an improvisatorial production unlike anything ever seen. Each show is a unique variation on the same themes.
