The form of the Blood under the fingernails refers to the time when the moving picture was taking the first steps in the part of the circus performance. The show bases on circus traditions but also on the structure of the short animations. Each clown acts in independent sketches and each animation tells their own stories.
The classic 1900's clown acts, taken from Tristan Remy's book, Clown Scenes, gets counterparts from 2000's new age short animations. Clownery and animation, often connected in children's culture, take their own space in the adult's world.
