Helsingin juhlaviikot - Fokus: Jani Nuutinen

Jani Nuutinen

Three tents, three performances, three and a half hours of magical moments. The Fokus series brings together ground-breaking Finnish new circus productions from the past decade. The three parts of the trilogy will be performed back to back and the evening culminates in a post-show dinner.

The first part, Un cirque juste juste (2011), is an homage to magic, while Un cirque tout juste (2002) is a milestone for Finnish new circus. It was this production that launched Finnish new circus onto the international scene. The concluding part, Un cirque plus juste (2007), takes its cue from the traditional strongman genre.

Jani Nuutinen lives and works in France and his work has rarely been seen in Finland since the early 2000s. This year, Nuutinen celebrates his 20-year creative career.

The 2014 Helsinki Festival circus programme is an overview of Finnish new circus achievements on the international arena, from the early 00s until today.
