Saivo

Agit-Cirk

Plastic, metal, wood and man. Buildings go up and fall to dust and everything is in constant flux. This multidisciplinary contemporary circus piece dives into the eternal life of matter. This production from the world's northernmost contemporary circus group is inspired by folklore and mythology.

In Sami mythology Saivo is the land of the dead in which residents live out their happy mirror-image afterlives.

The performance has been created as a collective process of the working group, without a named director. The artists started to explore their environment like they had never seen it before.

Each group member collected and created their own material and arranged it to the performance. As a result a picture-like moment arose on stage.

There is no time; the only threat is the decomposed material surrounding us. The set is created using disposed and recycled material.

Art Academic and dance artist Marjo Kuusela and appointed regional circus artist Samuli Männistö have acted as the external advisors in Saivo.
