Kohti horisonttia

Towards the Horizon
A clown performance by Taina Mäki-Iso
Humorously serious-Seriously Funny

In the performance Clown Martta gets the sack from her job. This is the beginning of the clown's personal wonder about her place in the globalized world. The performance is very timely as it touches upon the painful parts of modern life. Like so many other members of the workforce, and even youths who yet to enter working life, Martta is tired of the endless pressure to achieve things and prove herself. Getting fired forces her into an existential crisis: What is on the horizon now?

She goes also back to her roots and then arises the question: 'How can I as an authentic bucket head (ämpäripää) find my place in this global world?' (One will find out who and what is the bucket head.) Here the local meets the global. Underlying Towards the Horizon tells also a story about the personal transformation of the clown.

Towards the Horizon in an original and innovative combination of clowning, theatre, dance and a bit of music. There are used different languages (a.o. Finnish, English and French), but the performance is strongly based on clowning and physical expression. It is aimed at adults and youngsters.
