Ninth-grade student Nova builds themselves a time machine to escape their stagnant life. On their adventure with some friends Nova meets cyborgs, mermaids, and fairytale elves. The film Back to the Future warns of the dangerous consequences of travelling through time. But the warning is late in reaching Nova before something irreversible occurs.
superNOVA is a performance, created by Espoo art students, that explores the drudgery of everyday life and the uncertainty of the future from a young person’s perspective. Students from seven art academies and one primary school have planned, scripted, and prepared this family-friendly piece together with professional artists.
An ensemble of more than forty lovers of theater, circus arts, dance, and music will take the stage. The performance is the finale of the two-year Meeting Point Espoo project.
Premiere at Espoo City Theatre Revontuli Hall on 10 May, 2023.
