You’ll be at the heart of the action right from the start in this nail-biting spectacle from acrobat/wire-walker Jonathan Guichard. With a specially created new piece of circus equipment, the 3D, he brings thrills up-close as you have never before experienced. Constructed like a giant archer’s longbow, the curved wooden board and metallic ’string’ rocks, rolls and pivots in three dimensions at the will of its daring rider, producing an ever-changing musical soundscape that creates tension, awe and astonishment.
Jonathan Guichard has produced a thrilling piece of visual theatre which plays with space and form, physical virtuosity and sound.
Jonathan Guischard:
After what he describes as mediocre scholastic achievements, Jonathan went on to study at the National Circus School in Rosnay-sous- Bois, gaining a place at France’s top training establishment – the CNAC, Centre National
des Arts du Cirque in Châlons-en-Champagne in 2000. After working on productions with several contemporary circus ensembles he decided to go back to his artform’s roots and joined the Romanès Circus, a traditional touring troupe with whom he performed high-wire routines for several seasons. Returning to the world of nouveau cirque he developed Ieto
a two-person acrobatic and balancing show with Fnico Feldmann which was a winner atthe 2008 Jeunes Talents Cirque and toured extensively overseas, including an acclaimed season at the Southbank Centre’s Purcell Room as part of LIMF in 2010. One of France’s most sought-after circus-theatre artists, Jonathan has also appeared at LIMF with Mathurin Bolze’s Compagnie MPTA in Du Goudron et des Plumes at the Barbican and Aurélien Bory/Compagnie 111’s Plan B at the Queen Elizabeth Hall. He has also worked with Yoann Bourgeois whose He Who Falls was nominated for an Olivier Award at LIMF 2016.
